My
name is Carol Mulready. I am the owner of CBJ Foundations,
LLC, I am one of the few women
that own a concrete construction company. We are equipped with
lasers and a Topcon which is state of the art equipment to layout
your foundation exactly. Works along with or without autocad.
You will not be disappointed with the job done by CBJ Foundations,
LLC.
I have been in concrete
construction for 30 years.
With the financial help of my sister who
believed in me, I started my own business 11 years ago
and have tripled in size since then. Jimmy Silva & Arthur
Brainard were my first employees, along with Mary Lou who not
only has
watched my business grow but my three children who are
now 24, 22 and 18 years of age. They have all worked with me
since
a very young age, pouring footings, setting walls, loading
trucks in the early morning hours 5:30 – 6:30 a.m.
into the late hours of the night 8:00 – 9:00 p.m.
I have however always had time for them going to high school
wrestling,
soccer,
football games and taking them to college. It has been
great seeing them grow up and become independent. They
have been a large part of my long weary days and have watched
my company
grow. I am lucky to have three wonderful children,
the oldest has graduated from college, I am so proud
of Serena. Britt has worked with me for many, many years
always
by my
side. Keegan, who is the youngest, helps load trucks for me
before school. He is always lending a helping hand. Through
dedication and hard work from all involved CBJ Foundations,
LLC has become a great success from two 1976 trucks to a fleet
of thirteen trucks and enough forms to set foundations, four
house foundations at the same time. My equipment is in excellent
condition, I
buy new forms every year to replace any old forms.
Through hard work
and dedication my company was honored by the “BBB” TORCH
Award runner-up as Best Business Ethnics in Marketplace. Jimmy
received “Superior Employee” award. The Concrete
Foundation Association has nominated my company in the finals
as “Foundation of the Year 2007.” I also received
my “State of Connecticut Woman Owned Business” certificate.
We are so proud of our accomplishments. We strive to do the right
thing.
Vacations
were only allowed during the winter because summer is my busiest
season.
I’ve donated my time and equipment
to build dugouts and a concession stand for our towns childrens
Baseball teams. I love to see children playing in sports. I,
myself, love hiking, cross country skiing, down hill skiing
and mountain biking. My motto is “work hard, play hard”.
With my commitment
to helping in the community, I have given speeches at local
schools and girl scout meetings about owning
a business and what it’s like to run a business in construction.
I am a member of
the Better Business Bureau, Waterbury Chamber of Commerce
(on the small business council), American Society
of Concrete, National Women in Construction Association and
NFIB, a lifetime member of Who’s Who and an OSHA certification,
Avoid Foundation Disasters certification.
